Amiibo Emulation

Amiibo is a line of interactive figures and cards released by Nintendo, featuring beloved characters from franchises like Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon. Each amiibo contains an NFC (Near Field Communication) chip that allows it to interact with compatible games and consoles, such as the Nintendo Switch, Wii U, and New Nintendo 3DS.

When scanned, amiibo can unlock in-game bonuses, exclusive content, or even unique character appearances. Some amiibo also save data, allowing players to customize and transport character information between consoles.

On this page, I’ll show you how to make amiibo work on the Ryujinx emulator, so you can experience the same benefits without needing physical amiibo.

Manual Method (Working)

To use amiibo on Ryujinx, you’ll need to manually set up the amiibo data since the official Ryujinx.org domain is no longer active.

Instead of retrieving amiibo data automatically, download the amiibo.json file and place it in the Ryujinx > System > Amiibo folder. This workaround will allow the emulator to recognize and use amiibo data effectively.

Auto Setup (defunct)

All Amiibo are able to be virtually scanned within the emulator, as long as you are actively connected to the internet. No files or dumps are required!
To scan an Amiibo:
  1. While playing a game that supports Amiibo, either navigate to the area where Amiibo scanning is expected, or press/hold the correct button to enable the Amiibo scan prompt (this site has a basic list of supported games and what benefits are provided by each: https://amiibo.life/games
  2. Click the “Actions” menu header, then click “Scan an Amiibo”

Choose the Amiibo you want from the Amiibo Series and Character dropdowns.

Note: only the Amiibo that have content for the game you are currently playing are shown in this window. If you’d like to see all Amiibo you may check the box that says “Show All Amiibo”.
