If you’re trying to launch Ryujinx and are encountering the following error message:
“Ryujinx has encountered an error. An error has occurred when trying to get release information from GitHub Release. This can be caused if a new release is being compiled by GitHub Actions. Try again in a few minutes.”
You’re not alone. This issue is affecting many users, and in this guide, we’ll explain why it’s happening and how you can fix it.
This error occurs because Nintendo took legal action against Ryujinx, leading to the shutdown of its GitHub repository and other official sources. Ryujinx was previously designed to check for updates via GitHub Releases, but since the repository is no longer available, the emulator is unable to retrieve the latest release information.
Since the official GitHub is permanently down, this error will persist unless the software is modified to bypass the update check.
If you’re already using a working version of Ryujinx, you can simply ignore this message since it does not affect gameplay. The emulator will still function normally despite the update check failing.
After the official Ryujinx shutdown, community developers have stepped in to maintain and improve the emulator. GreemDev’s version of Ryujinx is one such fork that is being actively updated.
